Butterfly Pea Flowers

Our trips to Malacca have always been the highlight of my children's lives. Each time I need the children to behave, I just have to simply promise them a trip down south to visit their favourite Granduncle. Then for the whole week leading up to the trip, they will eat, practise piano, do their homework, brush their teeth...all without any complaints.

This time, they had real fun, helping Kong-kong Henry to pluck the butterfly pea flowers (bunga telang) for Aunty Chik to use in making her nyonya chang.

Guessed....

Jayden is now at Primary 4 of his Yamaha Music Course. Reading of notes is always quite difficult for him. Every now and then, teacher Nancy would get them all to sit on the floor and she will randomly point at some notes on the board the the children will have to read them.

Teacher Nancy: Jayden ...what is this note?

Jayden : (Confidently) SO

That night at home:

Viki : Jayden, today in class, when you were asked to read the note "SO"...did you really know that it was "SO" or was it a guess?

Jayden started giggling non stop...he rolled over on the bed and laughed and laughed.

Jayden : Guessed it!!

Smashed and not smashy

Ashley is very fond of using the word "peoples" and I have been correcting her quite frequently . I would say "people" and not "peoples".

The other day in the car, I was trying to drive, the kids were just talking non stop, I was trying to answer my phone etc. Then Ashley said something and to which I had to reply and accidentally said "smashy"

Ashley : Mama, you cannot use "smashy". You must say "smashed".

Viki : Oh! Ok . Sorry..

Ashley : Just like evertime when you tell me that I cannot say "peoples" you know!!

Will I marry MJ?

Jayden : Mama, why are you talking about Michael Jackson all the time?

Viki : Because I love him.

Ashley : You love Michael Jackson?

Viki : Yes, very much.

Ashley : But you are married to papa.

Viki : Yes, I am

Ashley : If you didn't marry papa, will you marry Michael Jackson?

Go Up

The other day, on the way home, in the car, when we reached a set of traffic lights..

Ashley : Mom,why are we stopping?

Viki : Because the traffic lights are red.

Ashley : I think you can go

Viki : No, I can't. The arrow shows red.

Ashley : But the arrow is pointing up and not in front. It only means you cannot go up to the sky!!!!

Finger Print Drawing

This is finger print drawing of a tiger done by Jayden in school today..

From straight to curly...

I had my hair blown straight two days ago. Today, back to the norm, I washed my own hair and while I was walking down the stair way, Jayden noticed and said

"Mom!!!! How did your curls come back?!!!!"

Hannah is growing too fast...

Just Like Aunty Lizi

In my family, the disciplinarian is my sister Lizi. She has straight long hair. Today, one day after my first marathon, I decided to go for a manicure (no pedicure as my baby toe nail is falling off )and a good hair wash. I had my hair blown just like Lizi's.

Then I went to fetch Ashley from school

Ashley : Mom...what happened to your hair?

Viki : Is it nice?

Ashley : I like your curly hair.

Viki : Oh...ok. Then I will keep my hair curly ok.

After a short pause...

Ashley : Mom, I don't like your straight hair cos you make me think of Aunty Lizi!!!

Paul Klee

Paul Klee (German pronunciation: [kleː]; 18 December 1879 – 29 June 1940) was a Swiss painter of German nationality.[a] His highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. He was, as well, a student of orientalism.[1] Klee was a natural draftsman who experimented with and eventually mastered color theory, and wrote extensively about it. His works reflect his dry humor and his sometimes child-like perspective, his personal moods and beliefs, and his musicality. He and his friend, the Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, both taught at the German Bauhaus school of art and architecture.

In the last art class, the kids were asked to be COPY ARTISTS(and they had to mix the colour to try to follow the example given to them)...and these were the results..

Ashley's 4th Birthday

We celebrated Ashley's 4th Birthday party today at Get Crafty (the former Art Attack)

She invited 11 of her friends and family and the girls
did a princess drawer while the boys chose a Pokemon car

First step : To colour the back frame of the drawer

Second step: To colour the drawer itself

In the meantime, the boys who are outnumbered, painted the body of their car

Not forgetting Hannah, laughing and enjoying herself too..

All at work and the final step is to blow dry the paint...

Then it was meal time...while the children had McDonalds, the adults had starbucks coffee with some finger food

The children with their craft..

And finally, Happy 4th Birthday to my little princess...We love you.
