Chinese Goreng Pisang or Malay Goreng Pisang

I wonder whether you noticed that the chinese style of fried bananas is different from the Malay style.

This is the Chinese style...where the flour is loose and crispy

And this is the Malay style..where the flour is smoother

Usually before I send Jayden for reading, we will eat something in the car on the way to class.

Viki: What would you like to eat tomorrow before reading class?
Jay: Roti Canai
Viki : You mean, goreng pisang?
Jay: Yes, goreng pisang
Viki: Ok
Jay: But Mama...remember to buy the Chinese goreng pisang!

And a 5-year old can tell the difference !!!!

Henna vs Hannah

Today I decided to go all natural and had my hair dyed with henna. It is a paste like formula which is put on the hair. I had in done in the morning and it was glad-wrapped so that the paste can stay on the hair for the next five hours. After doing that, I fetched the kids from school.

Jayden: What is that on your hair?

Viki : It is hair dye

Jayden: Why is it like mud?

Viki : It is henna

Jayden: What?

Viki : I put henna on my head.

Jayden: What...you put Hannah on your head and then she poo-poo!!

NO CHINESE SCHOOL

This episode helped me decide between a Chinese School and Non Chinese School for Jayden.

Jay: What can I do now?
Viki: Well, why don't you practise writing your chinese name?
Jay: Ok.
Then he writes this (picture below)...I was so proud of him and then we showed it to his grandfather (who is a retired chinese school teacher)

Yeh Yeh: Wrong!!!
Viki: What? Wrong? Huh? Alamaaaaaaak

Then we called the school teacher to find out and true enoough...they taught him to write ONG instead of WONG. The correct character is

See what I mean. Luckily Yeh Yeh (who was visiting us) noticed the mistake. We could have gone on and on practising to write the wrong character. Will we be so lucky all the time with his homework? I doubt!!! So no chinese school for Jayden because the only characters his mummy can read are the characters in the mah jong set!!!

But the question still continues...private school or public school?
